Having pristine textures in a game of this sort would be of no benefit. You're not supposed to be trundling around at half a mile an hour admiring the walls..

I'm inclined to disagree, the iPad 1 and 2 are the same, you don't need one. It's no more portable than a small laptop, and the lack of a dvd drive isn't a good thing.
Apple are just as good, if not better, at making you think you need something.
